What to expect from MarTech and SMX in 2022

Anchor your 2022 lead generation activities with successful, predictable and engaging virtual events

This is the second in a 2-part series. Part 1 explained why Third Door Media won’t produce in-person events in 2022. This installment describes the benefits of a virtual-only strategy for you.

If asked last March, few would have predicted the results that virtual events would achieve for marketers. The attendance, engagement, and lead generation volume surprised even the most optimistic among us. And perhaps most encouraging, the level of participation is holding steady or even increasing.

Let’s take a look at the case for including virtual events in your 2022 marketing plan.

We built it together. Marketers came. MarTech and Search Marketing Expo – SMX were successful as virtual events because of your support. Together, we demonstrated commitment to the marketing community, and the community responded with unprecedented levels of engagement.

In the last 18 months, virtual MarTech and SMX events attracted nearly 50,000 registrants, that’s the equivalent of more than 120 full-to-capacity Boeing 747s. Here are some additional stats on MarTech/SMX virtual event participation: 

  • Sessions attended – 99,885
  • Total watch time – 3 years, 47 days, 19 hours, 28 minutes and 33 seconds
  • Average session watch time – 22 minutes, 17 seconds

They were qualified. Audience quality is equally important as size. Here again, MarTech and SMX virtual events delivered senior-level audiences, with purchase authority who were in-market for marketing software and services.

They were delighted. We’ve been using NPS as the measure of overall satisfaction for our events for several years. We were blown away by the audience satisfaction demonstrated by the scores the audience bestowed on virtual events since we began doing them.

That level of satisfaction reflects well on all of us in the marketing technology and search marketing communities. And you can be confident that they’ll return in 2022 given the high levels of satisfaction achieved this year.
